“ Communication is the response you get. Make sure your message resonates with others .” - Chris Mackey
Introduction:
Thank you for taking the time to read this blog where we dive into the art of creating a well-oiled machine through effective communication, both internally and externally.
In this second installment of our six-part alchemy series, we'll address the common problem many entrepreneurs face when their communication fails to yield the desired response.
But fear not, because today, I'll show you how to turn things around and share some valuable disciplines to enhance your communication game.
The Problem with Communication: 👊
It's not just about what you say, but also the response you receive.
If you find that your communication efforts are falling flat with customers, team members, investors, or banks, it's time to take a closer look at your approach.
When your communication isn't as effective as it should be, you can sense it in the way your business operates. There are bumps and lumps that hinder your progress.
But fear not, because by mastering the art of communication, you can transform your business into a well-oiled machine.
Let me share a story about a friend I recently spoke with who had achieved enormous success in his career.
Despite his impressive track record, he found that his past accomplishments didn't resonate with potential clients as much as he had hoped.
The missing piece of the puzzle was addressing the "What's in it for me?" factor. It became clear that he needed to adapt his communication style to emphasize the value he could provide to his audience.
By altering his scripting, vocabulary, and presentation, he could better position himself and his clients before meetings. Taking responsibility for effective communication is essential for maintaining a well-oiled machine.
Now, let's dive into three essential strategies to supercharge your communication efforts and unleash your business's true potential.
1. The Power of Three Modalities:
In any presentation or communication, we engage with three types of learning: visual, audio, and kinaesthetic.
To ensure you connect with your audience effectively, it's crucial to cover all three modalities.
By incorporating visual aids, active listening techniques, and tangible interactions, you can deliver a well-rounded message that resonates with different learning preferences.
2. Harness the Power of Internal Communication:
Internal communication is the lifeblood of any organization.
Regular meetings with your team are crucial for fostering a cohesive and productive environment.
When conducting these meetings, always consider what's in it for your team members.
Structure your meetings to ensure they stay on track and respect everyone's time.
Additionally, schedule regular performance reviews to provide and receive valuable feedback.
Remember, your team members want to know that their ideas and opinions are heard and valued.
3. Master External Communication:
External communication involves interacting with suppliers, customers (past, present, and future), investors, and banks.
Many entrepreneurs fear that they might be over-communicating, bombarding their audience with newsletters and updates. However, the truth is that there is no such thing as too much communication.
The objective of external communication is to improve your response rate and strengthen relationships.
By consistently working on your external communication strategies, you can create a well-oiled machine that drives your business forward.
By prioritizing effective communication both internally and externally, you can catapult your business to new heights of success.
Remember, communication is the response you receive, and by mastering this art, you'll create a well-oiled machine that runs smoothly and efficiently.
